Singapore National Day Parade Fireworks Celebrations

9th of August is Singapore’s National Day, a yearly commemoration of Singapore’s independence from Malaysia in 1965. On that day each year, National Day Parade (NDP), a national celebration parade, is usually held at National Stadium, the Padang or Marina Bay. On 2012, the 47th National Day Parade was held at the Marina Bay Floating Platform. One of the main highlights of the NDP is the fireworks celebrations launched at the end of the parade.

Light of the Merlion

i Light Marina Bay, Asia’s first and only sustainable light art festival, is held for the second time from 9 March to 1 April 2012. Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and organised by Smart Light Singapore (SLS), the festival features more than 30 innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations, with a strong focus on works from Asia along the 3.5km Marina Bay waterfront promenade.

This 3D flythrough boasts of the grandeur of the future Marina Bay with amazing attractions such as Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resorts, the Floating Platform, Double Helix Bridge, One Fullerton, Gardens by the Bay, Skypark, ArtScience Museum, Mist Walk and the Marina Bay Financial Center. This was showcased during the Singapore National Day Rally Speech delivered by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in August 2009.
