Fusionopolis is Singapore’s research and development complex which houses various research organizations, high-tech companies, government agencies, retail outlets, and serviced apartments in one location. Situated near Buona Vista Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), it is close to the National University of Singapore, the INSEAD Business School, the Singapore Polytechnic, the National University Hospital, the Singapore Science Park, the Biopolis, and the Ministry of Education. It will be served by the One-north MRT Station that is scheduled to be completed in 2009/10. Fusionopolis Phase I was officially opened by the prime minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong on October 17, 2008.

Fusionopolis is envisioned to create new possibilities for researchers and scientists to work, play, live, and learn. With a focus on R&D activities in the areas of infocomms, science and engineering, Fusionopolis will foster cutting-edge research to create next-generation technologies that will spur the creation of future industries and inspire the world’s future lifestyles.

Fusionopolis Phase I

The Fusionopolis Phase I consists of two buildings (Towers 1 and 2 called Connexis and Symbiosis). Tower 1 comprises 24 levels and Tower 2 comprises 22 levels. Tenants of Fusionopolis Phase I include Linden Research Singapore (The Singapore office of Linden Lab, the makers of Second Life), Thales Technology Center, Vestas Technology, Autodesk, Seiko Instruments, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and three of its seven research institutes (Institute for Infocomm Research (I²R), Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), and Data Storage Institute (DSI)), and Media Development Authority (MDA) of Singapore.

When fully completed, Fusionopolis will comprise at least 10 buildings covering some 30 hectares or an equivalent of 30 football fields! Fusionopolis will feature dramatic public spaces, busy street life integrated with the One-north MRT station, comfortable apartments, restaurants and pubs, supermarket, retail and leisure facilities all along the lush green park edges and well-planned main streets.
