In 1973, SIA received delivery of the first two Boeing 747s. In 2003, it had 51 B747s at its peak.

More than 350 passengers as well as staff, media and other guests from around the world flew on the final flights.

The commemorative flights had an extended flying time of one hour, to enable those on board to cherish the final Boeing 747 experience. Passengers enjoyed specially crafted meal services, in-flight entertainment and limited edition B747 memorabilia.

First class passengers were treated to an exclusive tour of cabin crew training facilities and a B747 flight simulator.

To pay tribute to its Boeing 747 fleet, Singapore Airlines has setup a website www.siajourneys.com which showcases the airline’s journeys with Boeing 747.

The inaugural festival, held from 15 October to 7 November 2010, was a substantial success and was attended by more than 433,000 visitors over a three-week duration, of which approximately 71,031 were international visitors.

Check out Garden of Light, the cool light installation at ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. Projection on the surface of the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands incorporating a variety of light and sound effects to tell a story about environmental sustainability and highlight the beauty of the natural world.

Even the iconic Singapore’s Merlion is displayed in full colors.

For the first time, Singapore’s Health Promotion Board (HPB) launches a campaign to educate public on the dangers of shisha smoking, right at the shisha hotspot at Kampong Glam’s Haji Lane. In addition to distributing flyers, SingTel mobile phone subscribers who come within 1km of Kampong Glam will receive a multimedia message in the form of an 18-second video.

Fact #1: Since shisha smoking is usually done as as a social activity, different people will take turns to share the pipe. This will increase the risk of spreading infections like tuberculosis and influenza. Furthermore, shisha cafes do not wash their equipment regularly.

Fact #2: The water in the glass jar does not remove harmful chemicals such as nicotine. The water “filtered” smoke can damage the body just as much as cigarette smoke.

Fact #3: Smoking 1g of shisha is equivalent to smoking 100 sticks of cigarettes. Shisha causes many of the same ailments as cigarettes, including cancer, respiratory illness and gum disease.
