Coming Soon: iPad on Jetstar Flights

Jetstar Airways, an Australian low-cost airline, subsidiary of Qantas, will offer an in-flight iPad rental service on its domestic and international flights. The in-flight iPads will come pre-loaded with a wide array of music books, magazines, movies and games.

The full deployment will commence in April this year after a successful trial program which started last summer and allowed passengers to rent an iPad onboard for AUD$ 10. The exact launch date is yet to be confirmed and still depends on finalizing license agreements with Apple. The airline, however, anticipates no delay.

It will be no surprise if other airlines will soon follow Jetstar to offer the same in-flight iPad rental service. Furthermore, who knows perhaps airlines will revamp their “boring” in-flight entertainment systems and devices and replace them with iPads.
