Battlestar Galactica – The World’s Tallest Dueling Roller Coasters

When the Universal Studio Singapore opens in the first quarter of 2010, one of its major highlights is the Battlestar Galactica. Battlestar Galactica is a pair of dueling roller coasters in which a pair of high-speed shuttles twist and spin through more than two kilometers of rail in what the resort calls ‘a tumultuous battle of humans vs. Cylons.’ When completed, Battlestar Galactica will be the tallest dueling coaster in the world, tipping at 42.5m (140ft). It features a Suspended Track (Blue Cylons) and a Seated Track (Red Humans). The coasters will be launched from their stations at high speed instead of the traditional chain lift and feature several inversions, a zero-g roll, a Cobra roll, corkscrews, vertical loops and near collisions. Part of the ride will take place over a lagoon.

Battlestar Galactica – Cylon will feature a suspended blue track. The Cylon coaster will travel on a space craft that will perform more intense maneuvers such as inverted loop, cobra roll and helix spiral. The Cylon coaster will also plunge into a 5-meter deep pit filled with artificial fog to give the sensation of a near miss with the ground.

Battlestar Galactica – Human will feature a seated red track. The Human coaster is designed for riders who want a roller coaster experience with no inversions. However, according to Universal Studios Singapore engineers, the Human coaster ride draws more G-forces.
